Pie Chest
I wanted to show you my new addition to our kitchen! We bought this beauty from an antique store in Tarrytown, NY over the winter and I think it’s the best purchase we’ve made yet!
Pie chests, or pie safes, have been used since the 1700’s so store… food! They were used before ice boxes for not just pies, but meats and breads along with other dried goods. So, I’m bringin it back to 2017! A much simple way of eating and storing food.
Everything I’ve been cooking either comes from my fridge or my pie chest. I’m crazy about jars, always have been! I’ve been collecting jars way before it became the thing to do and boy am I glad I did!
From grains, to beans, to dried fruit and spices, everything goes in a jar. It’s a great way to store food when I bring it home from the grocery store in my reusable bags.
So, start saving your jars folks! Use them as cups or lunch containers, candle holders or utensil holders, the possibilities are endless!
Reduce, reuse, recycle at its best!
